Capcom has announced that Resident Evil has become the fastest selling digital title from the company in history. This has been concluded from North America and Europe which launched a few weeks ago on Jan. 20th, 2015. In addition to this, Resident Evil has also broken the record as the biggest digital title to be sold on day one for both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
Capcom’s producer for Resident Evil has expressed his feelings about the recent news, and had this to say:
“It’s been great to see so many positive comments from fans that have enjoyed this new release. The team here at Capcom Japan have worked hard to bring the game to the latest generation of consoles and we are thrilled at this news on its performance.” – Yoshiaki Hirabyashi
While the exact numbers aren’t available yet, PlayStation Blog has released a chart a few days ago that shows the standings for the most sold titles in the beginning of the year for 2015. The chart clearly shows that Capcom’s Resident Evil has taken the lead for both PS4 and PS3 consoles! Resident Evil has surpassed Minecraft, Dying Light, GTAV, Battlefield 4, Shadow Warriors and even COD: Advanced Warfare!
Many believe this was achieved because the remaster version is a way to have gamers take a trip down memory lane by reliving the experience they once loved. The new remastered version includes several updates for the games visuals, sound, new modes (Very Easy), and options for the aspect view and controls.
