Star Wars Battlefront Screenshots Take Us to the Planet Sullust

DICE and Lucasfilm have revealed screenshots from Star Wars Battlefront, including behind-the-scenes photos of the creative team’s visit to Iceland to get inspiration for the design process.

DICE’s Senior Level Artist Petter Skold explains,

We used the source material that we gathered from Iceland to shift and bend to the design detailed in our concepts which was very fun and difficult process.

Anton Grandert, Concept Artist at DICE added,

We wanted to create a planet on our own, first trying out different ideas and then deciding on a lava planet. With black sharp rocks, huge land shifts, red lava, turquoise lakes, and white smoke… everything to make it really colorful yet imposing and threatening.

When tackling planet Sullust the team wanted to introduce new themes and areas for players to explore. The overall look and feel of Sullust will be Imperial and under construction. Players can enjoying a lava theme, sulfur theme, Death Star-inspired theme, and lastly a mine theme.

According to Lead Environment Artist Andrew Hamilton,

It’s all about grounding in reality. Everything needs to look like something you could actually imagine existing. That’s what we wanted to do with Sullust…make it feel out of this world but like it could actually exist.

Star Wars Battlefront will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 17.
