Sony Plans to Ship 20M PS4 Consoles by April 2017

Sony has released its financial results for fiscal year 2015, which ended March 31st, as well as provided forecasts for the current fiscal year.

They also forecast an operating income increase of 46.3 billion yen due to PS4 hardware and software, but note that declining PS3 software sales will hurt them.

Sony shipped 17.7 million PlayStation 4 consoles during the 2015 fiscal year and plans to ship 20 million units in the current fiscal year that runs from April 1, 2016 until March 31, 2017. That would bring total shipments of the console to around 60 million units.

Sony also expects revenue from the PlayStation 4 to increase 8.3 percent. This includes hardware and software sales.
