Dragon Age Creative Director Mike Laidlaw Leaves Bioware

Mike Laidlaw announced via Tweet that he is leaving Bioware. As someone who is a huge fan of the Dragon Age series, I can honestly say that I am devastated. Laidlaw worked on all three Dragon Age games and was made the creative director for Dragon Age: Inquisition. He’s also known for working on Jade Empire as well as designing Mass Effect. A new Dragon Age is currently in development, but Mike Laidlaw will now have no hand in the games creation. Mike Laidlaw has a 14 year history at Bioware and his work will surely be missed.

In his Tweet, Laidlaw mentioned that he would be sharing all the wonderful games that he plays via Twitch and Twitter. He also thanked all of the cosplayers and artists who celebrated the world of Thedas (Dragon Age).

Fans have been distressed at the news, with many sharing their concerns over the next Dragon Age game. Others have been hit with the realization that there may never be a Jade Empire 2. I share some of these concerns for Dragon Age seeing as lead writer David Gaider also left the company last year.
