Queen of Comedy: An Interview with First Wives Club’s Michelle Buteau

She’s sassy, intelligent, and always brings the funny. Michelle Buteau has taken her comedic talents and amassed a following that has seen her in movie roles like Always Be My Maybe and hosting duties on Late Night Whenever! podcast, which was labeled as “one of the best podcasts of 2018 so far” by Time Magazine.

Now she’s taken BET Plus streaming service by storm with her role in First Wives Club as Bree Washington, a mother whose adjusting to life after her husband’s disrespectful infidelity.

Alongside singer/actress Jill Scott (Hazel) and Ryan Michelle Bathe (Ari), Buteau has created a heartwarming and hilarious show about the power of sisterhood, the depths of being of mother that lives up to the “don’t get mad, get everything” mantra.

The Koalition spoke with Butea about her role as the feisty Bree, how motherhood prepared her for the role, life on set, First Wives Club being more than a remake, memorable moments and more.
