In 2016, 27 years after terrorizing the town of Derry, big-headed clown Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård) is back, a body count rising in his wake. Having researched the monster’s history, Mike Hanlon (Isaiah Mustafa) tracks down the estranged members of The Losers’ Club, getting them to make good on their promise to fight once more.
However, IT: Chapter Two is more than how Pennywise affected these children as adults but also helps to fill in their stories with flashbacks to 1989 when they were kids.
Convinced Pennywise has returned after a mysterious murder, he calls his childhood friends back to Derry and honor the promise they made in 1989 to kill It if it came back.
Sharing the role of Mike Hanlon is Isaiah Mustafa and Chosen Jacobs, two remarkable actors who not only have to embody the character but convince the audience they’re the same version of the character. By studying Jacobs performance, Mustafa is able to take the role of Hanlon to new heights.
The Koalition spoke with Isaiah Mustafa and Chosen Jacobs about their role, the art of imitation, tackling Pennywise once again, the power of Stephen King and more.
