Spinning Gold Trailer Highlights the Incredible Story and Artists of Casablanca Records

“Memories are complicated. We remember what we want to remember. And we forget what we need to forget. But how do you expect me to tell you how all that really happened? Because every single bit of it we true. Welcome to Casablanca Recor, the biggest independent label where the artist worked with us, not for us. They were family,” Jeremy Jordan as Neil Bogart declares as the flashy trailer that blends rock, gospel and soul all into one begins.

The second trailer for Timothy Scott Bogart’s Spinning Gold has been released, giving us another look at the eccentric, incredible and larger-than-life story of Casablanca Records, the most successful independent record company of all time. Donna Summer, Parliament, Gladys Knight, The Isely Brothers, The Village People, and Bill Withers and even the rock band KISS was all under the same roof.

They all rose to their musical heights under the watchful ear of the music industry’s most colorful and brilliant music producer, Neil Bogart, founder of Casablanca Records and one of the music industry’s most colorful and brilliant music producers. Along with Bogart, a bunch of rag-tag team of young music lovers would rewrite history and change the music industry forever. Their mix of creative insanity, a total belief in each other and the music they were creating, shaped our culture and ultimately defined a generation. In a story so unbelievable that it can only be true, they would create the greatest soundtrack of our lives.

Spinning Gold stars Wiz Khalifa as George Clinton, Jason Derulo as Ronald Isley of The Isley Brothers, Pink Sweat$ as Bill Withers, Tayla Parx as Donna Summer, Ledisi as Gladys Knight, Chris Redd as Frankie Crocker, Jay Pharoah as Cecil Holmes, and Jeremy Jordan as Neil Bogart.

In a recent interview with TMZ, George Clinton who is portrayed by Wiz Khalifa said the biopic Spinning Gold makes the Parliament Funkadelic leader feel “cool.” “It’s cool. It makes me cool,”

When later divulging on the preparation process, Clinton shared him, and Khalifa traded wisdom. “He got that new wisdom. I got that old wisdom,” he explained. Despite not having any say in the casting process, though, Clinton is pleased with the outcome and even revealed his children and grandchildren will appear in the movie as his bandmates.

Written, directed, and produced by Timothy Scott Bogart, Spinning Gold features some of today’s hottest music stars playing the artist who inspired them and singing their most popular songs. The all-star cast includes Grammy and Golden Globe nominee Wiz Khalifa as George Clinton, Jason Derulo as Ron Isley, Pink Sweat$ as Bill Withers, Grammy Award nominee Tayla Parx as Donna Summer, multi-Grammy winner Ledisi as Gladys Knight, and Grammy and Tony Award nominee Jeremy Jordan as Neil Bogart.

Atlantic Records will release the film’s soundtrack digitally on March 31 as the film debuts in theaters. It features the cast covering classics like “Bad Girls,” “Ain’t No Sunshine,” “Midnight Train To Georgia,” “Give Up The Funk (Tear The Roof Off The Sucker),” and “Beth.” The collection also includes two original songs from the film, “Cherry On Top” and “Greatest Time (Spinning Gold),” both written by soundtrack co- writer/producer Evan “Kidd” Bogart, who also serves as Executive Producer and Executive Music Producer of the film, alongside Harvey Mason Jr. Bogart also composed the original score for the film with his longtime collaborator Justin Gray.

A new track will debut digitally each Friday leading up to the soundtrack’s release. Fans will get their first taste this Friday, March 3, when Pink Sweat$’s cover of the Bill Withers classic “Ain’t No Sunshine” will be released.

A special gold-vinyl version of the soundtrack will be available exclusively at select independent music retailers on April 22 for Record Store Day 2023. The album will be limited to 3,500 copies for $27.98.
