Fat Joe Talks Welcomes Kenneth Babyface Edmonds as His Guest

This week’s episode of STARZ’s first weekly interview series, Fat Joe Talks, will premiere on Friday, November 8th, at midnight on the STARZ app. On linear, it will debut on STARZ at 9:00 PM ET/PT in the U.S. Hosted and executive produced by the multi-hyphenate Grammy Award-nominated artist and cultural icon Fat Joe, “Fat Joe Talks” will bring the audience along for intimate conversations and never-before-told stories with some of America’s favorite celebrities and newsmakers who drive the cultural zeitgeist.

As seen in the sneak peek clip in the video above, this week’s episode, he gets up close and personal with the man behind some of R&B’s biggest hits: Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. With love and heartbreak taking center stage, Babyface addresses everything from the Anita Baker tour rumors to his mother’s struggle with dementia and bridging the generational gap between artists and genres.

They also discussed who should be in the songwriting Hall of Fame, with Babyface responding with, “Stevie Wonder, John Lennon, Paul McCartney. It probably goes well beyond that – Prince. There’s so many different kinds of writers, and there’s great writers even today.”

In 2023, Babyface scored his first top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 as a producer in 23 years, thanks to his work on SZA’s “Snooze.” Released in December 2023 on SZA’s 10-week Billboard 200 No. 1 album SOS, jumped 15-10 on the Hot 100 (dated Aug. 19). Babyface, co-produced the track with BLK (Blair Ferguson) and The Rascals (Khristopher Riddick-Tynes and Leon Thomas III).

“We had asked SZA to come in, and she was going to be part of the ‘Girls Night Out’ album. And so, we recorded two songs that day, and ‘Snooze’ was one of those songs. Her voice, her tone is so unique, and her as a writer, because, like, she wrote those lyrics and wrote that melody, and it was like, and she does it so quickly. It’s crazy to watch.”

On next week’s episode, airing Friday, Nov 15, Fat Joe travels to Atlanta to catch up with hip-hop mogul, actor, and entrepreneur T.I.
