New York Comic Con became BlumFest 2025 as the studio showcased its upcoming horror movies for the rest of 2025 and beyond. Moderated by the Croes Bros, panelists that included Blumhouse Productions CEO Jason Blum, Black Phone 2’s Mason Thames, Madeline McGraw, Ethan Hawke, Demían Bichir, Miguel Mora, author Joe Hill, Nine Inch Nails’ Robin Finck, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’s Emma Tammi, Elizabeth Lail and Matthew Lillard that introduced what Blumhouse has to offer.
Black Phone 2 was a ‘surreal’ process for author Joe Hill who was joined by Miguel Mora as Ernesto Arellano, the younger brother of deceased Robin (who Mora also played in the original). The panel then surprised fans with an exclusive tense clip that showed Hawke’s Grabber torturing teenagers from beyond the grave in a kitchen. After the lively discussion the panelists just said one word: “Grabber.”
Up next was Sleep Awake with creator and Nine Inch Nails member Robin Finck who greeted fans by declaring the game was made by a “badass crew” that was heavily influenced by The Exorcist, Mandy, and all of John Carpenter’s work. Sleep Awake is first-person psychological horror game by Eyes Out and Blumhouse Games. Set in the dystopian last city on Earth, players control Katja, who must navigate dangerous cults and otherworldly threats while resisting The HUSH, a phenomenon causing people to vanish if they sleep. Blending walking simulator exploration, puzzles, and stealth, it delivers a surreal, dreamlike narrative where staying awake means survival.
Last to present was Five Nights A Freddy’s which offered up a teaser by Lillard who also teased a third movie as “Mano a Mano.” In a bigger surprise they announced voice of Toy Chica: Megan Fox. Toy Chica is shown to be flirtatious, sadistic, psychotic, bloodthirsty, and sassy towards the player. She also seems to be curiously aware that not only is her beak missing, but also that it is lodged within the protagonist’s cranium. Her lines in Special Delivery suggest that she is also a bit sardonic when tormenting her victims, but also impatient. She feels no remorse for her actions and instead pleasurably savors them.
Black Phone 2 on October 17th, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 on December 5th and Sleep Awake in 2026.
