Welcome to another episode of Throwdown. On this podcast/vidcast we discuss the latest video game, pop culture, and tech news in an honest and uncompromising fashion.
Bloodborne, the most brutality challenging game of the year, has been released upon the masses. Since it’s the biggest AAA exclusive of the first quarter and most of us on Throwdown are playing it, we’ve decided to dedicate a good chunk of this episode to talking about the game.
The Bloodborne discussion leads us to our second main topic which is about challenging games. What is the appeal of games which makes us want to break controllers? What is it about them that keeps people coming back for more? We’ll answer these questions in addition to listing some of our favorite rage-inducing games.
We also have some Gaming News to discuss. First up is the latest PlayStation 4 update which adds the ability to resume games from any point, custom button configuration, and more. We’ve gone hands on with the update and give our impressions of it. Secondly, Konami has released an official statement regarding Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions. It’s filled with a lot of PR-speak so we try to translate what the company is really telling folks. Lastly, we talk about how David Jaffe is mad at IGN for mocking the God of War series and what he has to say about the current state of gaming journalism.
As always we round things out with Pop Culture news. We give our thoughts on the first official image of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor in the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. We also talk about how The X-Files is coming back this fall in the form of a six-episode mini-series.
