Welcome to another episode of Throwdown. On this podcast/vidcast we discuss the latest video game, pop culture, and tech news in an honest and uncompromising fashion.
What’s great about math is that it’s a simple thing to understand on the surface. If you sell something for less money and don’t sell a lot of that thing, you will not make a profit. Such is the case with the Xbox One. Though it is priced at $349, this hasn’t helped to move a significant amount of systems and this in turn has cut into Microsoft‘s revenue.
Our main topic deals with this latest news from the Microsoft camp. We discuss how the company’s gaming division got into this state, why people aren’t buying the Xbox One in droves like they are the PlayStation 4, and what the company can possibly do to correct this problem.
Aside from the Xbox One news which literally dropped a couple of hours before we began recording, there wasn’t much notably happenings in the gaming world this week. We talk about the release of Star Wars: Battlefront which was unveiled last Friday, and about Square-Enix‘s newly announced E3 event.
On the Pop Culture side we have a few interesting things to discuss. The main one is about the controversy surrounding the Calgary Comic Expo which closed down the Honey Badger Brigade booth due to its friendly stance on GamerGate. We also talk about how Marvel has turned the young Ice-Man gay while keeping the modern one straight. Finally, we end things with the announcement that Marvel’s Daredevil Netflix series will get a second season next year.
