In an interview with USGamer.net, Naughty Dog Lead Game Designer Emilia Schatz confirmed the lack of multiplayer in The Last of Us Part 2. Schatz stated the following as the reasoning behind the loss of multiplayer: “We’re focusing on a single-player experience, so we’re just making a single-player game for this.”
This news has stirred the pot ever since it hit the press earlier today, with fans and media personalities in an uproar over the loss of the beloved Factions mode from the original game, The Last of Us. Some of the backlash comes from the fact that multiplayer was hinted at over a year ago in another report. In one report from 2018, a Naughty Dog representative flat out said “there will be multiplayer” in the game.
As you can see below, there are some major reactions coming from those who were big fans of the multiplayer in the first game.
Naughty Dog is straight fried and seasoned GOOFBALLS bro. Who does this. Who makes a good multiplayer and then when its time the make the sequel be like
"Hold your horses there buckaroo"
Headass dumbshit.

The Last of Us 2 not having multiplayer is honestly unacceptable tbh.
Don't care too much myself but feel bad for all the people I know who loved it in the first one.
