Limp Bizkit is the choice for this week’s Throwback Thursday; 1999 being the year and “N 2 Gether Now” being the song of choice. Method Man shares the mic with Fred Durst on this song with DJ Premier producing the beat. He sampled the Beastie Boys song “Get It Together”
“N 2 Gether Now” was the third single released for Limp Bizkit‘s second album “Significant Other” which sold 643,874 copies in its first week of release. The song was originally titled “Shut the Fuck Up“, but was subsequently renamed for obvious reasons.
Although they are considered as a “Nu-Metal” band, this was Limp Bizkit‘s first Hip-Hop collaboration and afterwards went on to make other songs with artists such as DMX, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Xzibit & Raekwon. In 2001, after guitarist Wes Borland left the band, they released a Hip-Hop remix album titled “New Old Songs“.
They are now signed to Birdman‘s Cash Money Records label and are currently working on their next album and EP (yes, more EP’s!) respectively titled “Stampede Of The Disco Elephants” and “The Unquestionable Truth Part 2” The rumour going around concerning as to what their first single will be is the track titled “Ready 2 Go” featuring Lil’ Wayne, who sadly dabbled in the metal genre with his 2010 album “Rebirth“.
I have bought “Significant Other” not once but twice (due to misplacing of said record) and was released in 1999 and is still available. If you appreciate the Nu-Metal/Rap-Rock genre this album is a must buy.
