Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor Gameplay Video Released

An 8 minute gameplay walkthrough of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor has been released, check out the video embedded at the top!

The gameplay video looks really impressive, the traversal looks a lot like Assassin’s Creed and the fighting reminds me of the Batman games. A perfect mix of two things those games do well.

In an interview with Polygon, director of design Michael de Plater talks about the Shadow of Mordor:

“We wanted to make it feel like a dynamic society, [we wanted it to] feel alive, and to make it so that as you’re travelling, you’re really able to have an affect on that world. We didn’t necessarily start with the idea of making it procedural. I think the starting idea was we wanted to do something new and next-gen with our enemies. There are villains in every game, but how do we make the player create their own personal villain?

“When players can create their own stories, it becomes so much more meaningful and memorable. In every game, you fight so many nameless grunts, and we didn’t want to do that. We wanted to make those more interesting and give them more possibility without creating scripted villains.”

I must say I am surprised at how fun this looks, I did not expect for this game to boosted up my radar by a few minutes of gameplay footage. When the game was announced I questioned the industry’s ability to make a great Lord of the Rings game and it looks they are are trying to prove me wrong!

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is out in 2014 for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and the Xbox One.
