Earlier today, 2K Sports confirmed over Twitter that OKC All-Star Kevin Durant will be the official cover athlete for their upcoming NBA 2K15 video game. Prior to this news, Durant was also named league MVP by the National Basketball Association. Lebron James shared this same honor last year as he was awarded league MVP and cover athlete for NBA 2K14. Below is a brief glimpse of what the cover for NBA 2K15 will look like:
Usually when 2K Sports make an announcement like this one, they tend to have a special game mode designed in honor of the cover athlete. It is currently unclear what they are planning for Durant, but my best guess is that we will hear more about this during E3 2014. In any event, Durant is deserving of this honor and I’ll be looking forward to getting my hands on NBA 2K15 later this year.
NBA 2K15 is scheduled to launch worldwide on October 7th for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. There is currently no news on a Wii U version, but we will update this information accordingly once we hear more.
