Best Buy has been testing the waters before entering the used game and trade-in market. The water was nice enough and now Best Buy is diving in and launching its new Trade-In Program.
Later this week, customers can bring their pre-owned games into Best Buy and trade it in for store credit. As of now, only 600 participating Best buy stores are offering this trade-in program but Best Buy promises to expand on that as the time follows. Gamers are always looking for a great deal and Best Buy has one. On August 29th, trade-in a selected title of over 100 to trade-in and receive an extra $20 gift card along with trade in value. This might be a one time thing for me because I don’t like to trade-in anything and because Best buy is actually given you less cash than Gamestop is.
“The expansion of our trade-in program reaffirms our commitment to consistently pursue new ways to bring a better gaming experience to consumers,” said Chris Homeister, GM of the home entertainment group at Best Buy. “Fall marks the launch of several highly-anticipated gaming titles and new technology, and we’re thrilled to provide gamers with innovative ways to connect with the games they love.”
For now get your extra $20 but I’ll wait and see how there used game prices stack up against Gamestop later this year. If you’re interested in the trade-in program click here to find out if your store is offering the program and to get an estimate on how much cash you’ll get.
