Castlevania: Lords of Shadow will be joining Mass Effect 2 and Final Fantasy XIII as multidisc games on the Xbox 360 this year. No need to go crazy and start talking about disc swapping though because Castlevania allows gamers to install disc 1 onto the hard drive and play the entire game using only disc two.
To make sure everything is on the up and up, Microsoft sent over a couple of their tech guys to check on Lords of Shadow. Here is what Castlevania’s producer David Cox had to say about Castlevania being on two disc for the 360:
“Microsoft actually sent their tech guys to the studio to see the game and look at [how we’re] compressing it, but they said: ‘Okay, it’s good. You’re doing all you can,” he said.
“I think it’s something Microsoft are going to experience more and more – that they need to help developers overcome the storage problem.”
So what do you think? Should developers make games with compression in mind or will there be more multidisc games in the 360’s future?
