A press release from Sony claims that Gran Turismo 5 has sold 5.5 million copies world wide. Although GT5 dropped to number 4 in this weeks UK charts, and came in 8th place on yesterdays NPD’s the games world wide influence has still manage to account for over 5 million units, outselling the previous game Gran Turismo 5: Prologue already. Not only that, but in the press release Sony also reveals that the Gran Turismo franchise has now sold over 60 million units collectively. Both are outstanding achievements, but the fact that Sony chose the day after the NPD’s to reveal this info show that they must be desperate to show their achievements.
