For those of you that are Pokémon fans you should know that today is the European release date for the Gold & Silver remakes HeartGold and SoulSilver. Nintendo have been doing events leading up to the release date of the remakes such as the Arceus event and the Wi-Fi distributed Pikachu-coloured Pichu. The Wi-Fi Pikachu-coloured Pichu event which ended today was a chance for those able to connect to the Nintendo Wi-Fi to obtain this special Pokémon. When the Pokémon is traded from Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum it will unlock an event where players will receive the Spikey-Eared Pichu that stared in the recent movie Arceus and the Jewel of Life. Below is a screenshot of the event as it happens in the games HeartGold and SoulSilver.
In the UK Video Game retailers Game hosted the HeartGold And SoulSilver pre-release Arceus event where players could download the last Pokémon in the Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum Pokédex. At the event i met people of all ages who shared love for the game series like i do at the event you could battle other trainers, trade Pokémon to fill your Dex, and take part in face painting. like all those who attended the event i got a chance to play the games which i could not wait for and i was really impressed for this game is not just a cheap remake like the God Of War collection Or Final Fantasy 7 and 8 its a total redesign with the same story plus extras. I have to give Nintendo a hand clap, because they really know how to market a game and keep a franchise alive. The Arceus recieved from the pre-release event unlocks an event similar to the Pikachu-coloured Pichu that enables you to receive one of three legendary version mascots from Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum when traded to HeartGold and SoulSilver as shown below.
With all the incentives placed by Nintendo for players who purchased the last set of games to pick up this wonderful remake i can almost guarantee that it will chart at the top of the UK Charts and NDP from the amount of people i saw picking up HeartGold and SoulSilver. Last month the Pokémon company showed of their first generation 5 Pokémon so i can assume that a next set of game are already ion development and with Pokémon Ranger being top of the japanese charts three weeks in a row i can assume that Pokémon is here to stay. After giving players reasons to pick up HeartGold and SoulSilver i wonder if developers will use this strategy to get players to buy their sequels, because personally i think its a great idea. Below are a few pictures i took from the Arceus event hosted by game and look out for my Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver review that’s coming soon.
