Sony’s brand naming department have been coughing up some real duds lately, first the redesigned PSP was given the unfortunate sub-title “Go” and more recently at this year’s GDC, Sony’s alternative to Nintendo’s Wii Remote and Nunchuk were given the titles “Playstation Move” and “Sub-Controller” respectively.
The good news is a FCC filing has revealed that the Sub-Controller has been renamed! The bad news… it will now be known as the Navigation Controller.
Is it really that hard to come up with a decent, catchy names these days? “Playstation Move and Navigation Controller” doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. I’m glad I don’t work for Sony’s marketing team right now.
