Today was the day many of us were expecting Apple to unveil the iPhone 5 and possibly a lower tiered iPhone 4S to launch alongside it. The bad news is the iPhone 5 was nowhere to be seen (and probably won’t be seen until next October) but on the plus side, the 4S is much better than expected!
Aesthetically the iPhone 4S looks exactly like the iPhone 4. Much like the jump from the 3G to the 3GS, all changes were made via software and on the inside of the device. The 4S will be the first iPhone to utilize Apple’s A5 dual core processor which is said to make graphics load up to 7x faster. The iPhone’s camera has also been dramatically improved, making the leap from 5 megapixels to 8 megapixels with full 1080p video recording.
On the software front, the 4S will of course launch with iOS 5 pre-installed (click here for more information on that) and will feature an amazing new voice recognition feature which you can see in action here or via the video below.
The iPhone 4S will hit stores in the US and UK on October 14th with pre-orders starting from October 7th.
