Street Fighter is one of the most recognizable fighting game series or even just video game series in general. Street Fighter II and its variations are still considered some of the greatest the 2D fighting genre has to offer. And now, hot on the heels of 2d-fighting’s resurgence with the likes of Marvel vs Capcom 3, Street Fighter IV and Mortal Kombat 9, we get Street Fighter III on current home consoles!
The game was first released in arcades back in 1997 and later ported to the Dreamcast in 1999. So, a lot of people have probably not even played this entry in the series so it will be a great opportunity to give it a shot. The game is going to be officially titled: Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition. It will be sporting loads of additions:
- Full online support
- Tournament Mode
- Spectator Mode
- Trial and challenge game modes
- Multiple visual modes like “classic,” “arcade,” and “widescreen HD” settings
- Unlockables
- Achievements (and trophies presumably)
- Advanced replay sharing linked with YouTube
The game will be fighting its way onto the PSN on August 23rd and XBLA the following day on August 24th costing $14.99 and 1200 MS Points, respectively.! Check out the trailer below for gameplay footage and even more information!
