Time is running out to help support Double Fine Adventure, a new adventure game from Tim Schafer, legendary creator of such games as Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango, and Psychonauts.
For those who are unaware, Kickstarter is a website that lets small projects raise funds on the internet, and interested parties can give money directly to these start-ups. When Double Fine announced that they wanted to make a new adventure game, they set a goal of $400,000. With in 24 hours, they had already made over $1 million. As of now, they have already raised $2,768,484 (nearly as much as the budget for Grim Fandango).
Of course, this isn’t an instance of charity. Anybody that donates at least $15 will receive the game when it releases, DRM-free, and access to the beta. A variety of donation levels exist to match however much you can give (you can even have lunch with the developers, for only $10,000).
If you love old-school adventure games or just want to support one of the industry’s most original and visionary developers, you can donate money here. The fundraiser will end at 8 PM EST. I know I’m excited, and I plan on donating something myself.
