0x10c Cancelled By Notch, Becomes Fan Project

Mojang creator Notch has officially cancelled his long troubled space exploration game 0x10c. 0x10c was originally put on hold in April but it now seems that development of the game will no longer continue at all.

Notch did not give a reason for this decision except that he “had no future aspirations for it”. It also seems that he never recovered from the creators block he suffered a few months ago on the title. However, all hope is not lost for the game as Notch fans have pledged to continue his work and create their own version of the game called Project Trillek.

Shane Dalton, Project Lead of the 0x10c revival, said “I didn’t really look into why Notch cancelled the game. We just sort of looked at the project and were like, ‘Okay. This is a community project now.’ We’re not using any of his old code, his name or anything,

It’s always a shame when a project gets cancelled and especially when it is by Notch. A lot of people have very mixed feelings about Minecraft but no-one can deny that it created a new genre of games and ignited peoples creativity like no other game.

Let me know in the comments how you feel about this cancellation and what you think we should see next from Notch.
