Jay-Z’s 12th album “Magna Carta Holy Grail” has dropped today and to mark the release, TheKoalition.com has compiled a play list of 12 Jay-Z songs.
These are songs from Jay-Z’s lengthy library that we believe should be heard by anyone interested in listening to Jay-Z, or Hip-Hop in general.
Even though Jay-Z now has 15 studio albums to his name, “Magna Carta Holy Grail” will be Hov’s 12th solo album. The other 3 albums being 2 R. Kelly projects and the infamous Kanye West “Watch The Throne” collab-album.
This play list contains classic songs including his early days as a hungry MC on his classic debut album “Reasonable Doubt” to his other classic albums such as “The Blueprint” and “The Black Album” where he became a certified Hip-Hop superstar.
Jay-Z’s 1996 track “Bring It On” from his debut album “Reasonable Doubt” begins the play-list followed by “Where I’m From” which featured on his sophomore album “In My Lifetime, Vol. 1“. Jay-Z’s classic collaborations on “U Don’t Know” with M.O.P and “Money, Cash, Hoes” featuring DMX both also appear in the play-list.
Hov’s classic diss track towards Nas titled “The Takeover” has also been selected alongside his more than noteworthy collaboration with his former foe on Nas’ “Hip-Hop Is Dead” album titled “Black Republican“.
The Jay-Z play-list not only has collaborations with former enemies but also a collaboration with his wife, Beyonce on “03′ Bonnie & Clyde“. This track is from Jay-Z’s classic double-disc album “The Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse“.
Other stand-out tracks from Jay-Z’s discography that make appearances in our play-list include: “99 Problems“, “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” “Big Pimpin’” and “Renegade“.
