Square Enix have announced that an enhanced version of Final Fantasy 6 will be coming to iOS and Android at some point later this year.
During the announcement Square director and producer Takashi Tokita happily explained:
“It is basically like a remake of the original VI, but there have been some enhancements.”
“The battle systems have been altered for the other [mobile remakes] for Final Fantasy and VIwill be the same. For instance grinding was an issue and people had to spend a lot of time leveling up. Now on the mobile devices the battle systems have been adjusted so you don’t have to fight as much and can enjoy the game for what it is.”
People get very excited when Final Fantasy games get ported to mobile, so this announcement is sure to make a lot of people very happy. Fortunately for those people waiting on Final Fantasy VII news, Tokita had some promising things to say: “We are aware that we have tons of VII fans. We have VII fans in our own company. If this Legacy project works out well, we would like to one day be able to work with VII.” It looks like we’ll be getting Final Fantasy VII soon then!
No pricing has been announced but it’ll probably be comparable to the release of Final Fantasy V which is around $10. I’ll let you all know when we get some solid details. Let me know in the comments if you’re going to be getting Final Fantasy 6 when it releases or whether you prefer to leave these experiences in the past.
