Earlier this week, Square Enix and Eidos Montreal released a brand new gameplay trailer for their upcoming action-adventure Thief video game.
The video above features the first in-game look at Garrett’s hideout, the dark alleyways, and series regular Basso. Furthermore, the trailer goes on to display the core pillars of Thief’s gameplay in terms of action, infiltration, theft, and escape. Fans who aren’t familiar with the franchise but have played Dishonored will notice the similarities between both games right away.
Ever since Eidos Montreal first revealed that they were working on this reboot of Thief, rumors have been swirling that the studio has been struggling to survive. Various reports surfaced of layoffs happening left and right, often causing the game’s production timeline to fall further behind. Given Square Enix’s desire to restructure after sales of Tomb Raider and Hitman failed to meet their expectations, it isn’t hard to see them as being cautious of this game. I personally would say that the game looks good and longtime fans of the Thief series shouldn’t be disappointed once it finally hits stores early next year.
Thief releases on February 25th in North America and on February 28th in Europe for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Did any of you enjoy this new gameplay trailer? Is this game currently on your radar? Please feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
