Earlier this week, Ubisoft released a brand new story trailer for their upcoming Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag video game.
The video above highlights lead protagonist Edward Kenway and his transition from the life of a lowly privateer to a legendary pirate assassin. The trailer is taken mostly from cutscenes, but succeeds in delivering an action-packed experience from beginning to end. Most fans would agree that Assassin’s Creed II’s Ezio de Auditore is one of the most popular heroes in the franchise. If this video is any indication of what to expect, then Edward will certainly give Ezio a run for his money.
In addition to the trailer above, Ubisoft has also revealed that European copies of Black Flag will now release on the same day as the North American retail versions of the game. This news comes after the studio made headlines a few days ago when they announced that Watch Dogs would be delayed until the Spring of 2014. Many have gone on to speculate that Ubisoft wants Assassin’s Creed IV to be the main title that consumers purchase this holiday season and that they didn’t want people to have to choose between Black Flag and Watch Dogs. Personally, I think it is a good idea to spread out both games but there is absolutely no denying that this may discourage many from buying next-gen consoles at launch.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag releases in both North America and Europe on October 29th for the PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Xbox 360. Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4 versions of the game will be launch in November. Did any of you enjoy the new story trailer? Are you convinced Black Flag will hold everyone over until Watch Dogs launches next year? Feel free to let us know your thoughts on the matter in the comments section below.
