In an announcement on the Ubisoft website, it states that the website has been compromised and that users should change their passwords immediately.
Here is the statement released by the company:
“We recently found that one of our Web sites was exploited to gain unauthorized access to some of our online systems. We instantly took steps to close off this access, to begin a thorough investigation with relevant authorities, internal and external security experts, and to start restoring the integrity of any compromised systems.”

The irony behind all this is that their highly anticipated title Watch Dogs, due out this fall, has a core hacking mechanic in it. Is this a harsh marketing scheme by Ubisoft to promote their own game or is it a simple case of malicious intent? In any case, users of the Ubisoft site should change their passwords regardless and it is advised by Ubisoft that if you use similar passwords on other sites, it is also recommended that those be changed as well.
