Sorry for the delay, but here is the 13th edition of Koalition Radio for your listening pleasure.
Striking things off with an oldie but goodie is the Flatbush Zombies track “222”. I was only made recently aware of the magnificence that is BetterOffDead and this is one of the standout tracks from the project. I slept but I’m wide awake now. The full release is on Soundcloud for your listening pleasure.
With all the hooplah surrounding the usual Lupe Fiasco vs Atlantic issues, thankfully we were treated to this week’s Song of the Week in Lupe’s “Lilies”. With a fantastic hook from Sirah, “Lilies” is a lyrical painting from the Chicago emcee. Hopefully tracks of this caliber will be replicated on the upcoming Tetsuo & Youth.
A couple Alabama newcomers I’m familiar with dropped tracks recently and make their Koalition Radio debuts. Montgomery’s K1ng Eljay, the EIC of TheRedefined.com, drops “Generic Acceleration” over Drake’s “0-100”. Selma, Alabama’s own D Gut drops his track “2 More Minutes” over original production by the man himself. Both emcees are on the rise, so take note.
Behold! Another dope Chicago act. The Video of the Week goes to Hip Hop duo Retrospect with their visual adaptation for “Guns & Roses”. Discovered via GoWhereHipHop, the video takes a Bond-esq approach that certainly entertains.
Thank you for tuning in this week and be sure to share comments/requests down below. Enjoy!
