Wales Interactive, the team behind Master Reboot, recently revealed the release date for their latest game, Infinity Runner. The game is set to release on June 2, 2014 for Steam, and it will eventually be released on PS3, PS4, Mac, Linux and Wii U. Infinity Runner will also be compatible with the Oculus Rift.
You are a prisoner on the largest space ship, The Infinity. The other inhabitants of the ship are journeying to search for new worlds to inhabit. Instead, they discover a hidden evil that threatens The Infinity and all of its passengers. As the protagonist, you’ve just escaped your prison, but now you must run and fight your way to the exit. Oh, and watch out for that SPACE WEREWOLF!
Infinity Runner looks like it borrows the sci-fi horror elements of Master Reboot, except Infinity Runner looks far more action-driven. You control the protagonist from first-person, running and dodging obstacles at break-neck speeds. Occasionally an enemy will hinder your progress, and you must dispose of it through hand-to-hand combat. It’s an interesting blend of parkour and martial arts, and it has been compared to Mirror’s Edge and Mass Effect.
The trailer looks like it’s all action, but the team says that the game will focus on story. That sounds neat, but I’m worried I won’t be able to pay attention when I know a space werewolf is breathing down the back of my neck.
