Wales Interactive has recently released a trailer to show off its spiritual successor to Master Reboot. Along with the interesting trailer, the studio also announced that the game will soon be available on Steam Early Access.
The story of Soul Axiom is strikingly similar to Master Reboot’s. Thanks to a mysterious cloud server known as Elysia, the inhabitants of Soul Axiom’s world are able to essentially live forever; however, it’s not without its flaws. One poor soul experiences this for itself, as constantly shifts between memories, eventually coming back to a vision of falling towards a storm. As in Master Reboot, it’s up to the main character to discover his or her true past while thwarting the corruption in the server.
Even graphically Soul Axiom looks similar; however, there’s a point in the trailer, signified by a sudden, heavy guitar riff, in which the character gains magical abilities. The character shoots brilliant beams of light out of its hands; however, we’re still left with only our imagination to figure out what this power’s purpose is. We know that these beams will be used to solve many puzzles, and they look considerably more fun to play with than picking up key items.
Despite the striking similarities in style, I have a feeling that Soul Axiom will be much different compared to Master Reboot, and I can’t wait to see if these changes are for the better.
Soul Axiom is coming soon to Steam (PC, Mac, and Linux), PlayStation 4, Nintendo Wii U, and Xbox One.
