Tomb Raider Reboot Now The Best Selling Game In The Series

Earlier today, Gamespot reported on a story in which Crystal Dynamics confirmed that their 2013 Tomb Raider reboot is now the best selling game in the series. With the combined sales of both the regular and definitive edition of the game, the reboot has now sold over 8.5 million copies worldwide.

When the reboot first launched way back in March of 2013, the game managed to sell only 3.6 million copies in the first month. The release of the definitive editions on both the PS4 and Xbox One a year later definitely provided a significant boost in sales and is the main reason why Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have reached this goal today.

Rise of The Tomb Raider is expected to launch as a timed exclusive on both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 later this year. Is this sequel destined to surpass the numbers set by the original once it finally comes to the PS4 and PC too? Hopefully we won’t have to wait too much longer now to find out if this dream can become a reality.

Are any of you surprised that Tomb Raider sold this well? Please feel free to let us know your thoughts on the matter and more in the comments section below.
