PlayStation 5 Global Launch Spot Released

Earlier this morning, Sony released the official global launch spot for their upcoming PlayStation 5 console. Scheduled for a November 12th release date in North America, the highly anticipated next-gen console is a source of exploration as highlighted in the video above. Below is a statement from PlayStation Worldwide Marketing, SIE, and Senior Vice President Eric Lempel regarding the spot:

PlayStation 5

For launch, our goal has always been to create a spot that feels epic and iconic; a spot that truly celebrates our desire to push the boundaries of what is possible and evokes the excitement that you will have through the unique experiences made possible with PlayStation 5.

The theme of the spot is centered around the idea of exploration.  There is a desire in all of us to explore and discover new possibilities, whether it’s in gaming, or in our everyday lives. We all want to go to places we’ve never been, see what’s never been seen. We tell the story by paying homage to explorers of the past who stood on the threshold of the unknown and pushed past their limits to achieve the extraordinary.

Finally, we needed an iconic voice to narrate this unique spot, we went with our new strategic creative partner – Travis Scott. We hope you enjoy it, and we look forward to continuing to explore new and exciting worlds with you through PlayStation 5.

The spot itself is brief and the overall messaging is very clear. We currently have been sent a PlayStation 5 for review and will be sharing our thoughts on the console and more in the weeks ahead. Stay tuned for more of our coverage on what is sure to be one of the hottest items this holiday season.

Are any of you planning to pick up a PlayStation 5 next month? If not, did this global spot do anything to change your mind? Please feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
