Megalopolis Trailer Questions A Society’s Future, New Ensemble Poster Released

Megalopolis, one of the most expensive and awe-inspiring sci-fi adventures of the year, just got an exciting new trailer and poster, announcing that tickets are on sale now.

As seen in the trailer above, narrated by Lawrence Fishburne, Francis Ford Coppola is introduced as a “visionary and director ahead of his time” as Adam Driver munipulates time before jumping off a building. Imagine a branch of society as a civilization about to reach a dead end. Protesters take to the streets as a mob tries to break through a restricted area. The sky violently lights up as fire rains down from the sky with the Statue of Liberty in the distance. The city is in turmoil as Adam Driver asks, “Is this way we’re living the only one available to us? My plan is a city people can dream about. Megaloplis.” But there are others standing in the way of his dream, people who want to improve the city and life they already have. An opposing team screaming “Power to the people” takes to the streets to support the person they think is best for their future. “People don’t need dreams; people need help right now,” says Giancarlo Esposito.

Megalopolis is Francis Ford Coppola’s passion project that has been in development for decades. It follows a Roman epic set in an imagined modern America. The City of New Rome must change, causing conflict between Cesar Catilina (Adam Driver), a genius artist who seeks to leap into a utopian, idealistic future, and his opposition, Mayor Franklyn Cicero (Giancarlo Esposito), who remains committed to a regressive status quo, perpetuating greed, special interests, and partisan warfare. Torn between them is socialite Julia Cicero (Nathalie Emmanuel), the mayor’s daughter, whose love for Cesar has divided her loyalties, forcing her to discover what she truly believes humanity deserves.

Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Kathryn Hunter, and Dustin Hoffman stars.

Megalopolis releases September 27th.
