NYCC VisionQuest Trailer Teases A Showdown Between Ultron And Vision

NYCC 2025 was one to behold as Marvel teased VisionQuest on of their highly anticipated series that closes the WandaVerse chapter that began with 2023’s WandaVision. After the hunt for her kids and offscreen death in Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, the Disney+ Series VisionQuest dives deep into Vision’s mind, AI companions, and a life-changing secret.

To understand the upcoming VisionQuest, you have to look back what happened in WandaVision. White Vision — a rebuilt, white‑colored version of Vision created by S.W.O.R.D. to destroy Wanda’s Hex‑version of Vision — confronted the original, Hex‑bound Vision in a philosophical exchange about identity and memory. During this encounter, Hex Vision (Red Vision) gifted White Vision all of his memories, including those from within the Hex, so White Vision could claim to be the “true” Vision.

In the upcoming VisionQuest series (set about a year after WandaVision), White Vision will be the central character, struggling to connect with the memories he now possesses, while Red Vision’s memories are implied to have been given to him.

Vision is back in his human for is stripped of his original memories and emotions, struggling to redefine himself after events in WandaVision, saying, “I’m not a hero anymore. I have his face, but not his virtue.” We see that he is living a semi-normal human life yet remains disconnected from his past. Vision is then showed with other MCU AIs, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., D.U.M.-E, J.A.R.V.I.S., and E.D.I.T.H., indicating he is exploring his identity in a surreal dreamscape that mixes memory and artificial consciousness.

Paul Bettany said, “What’s different about Vision right now is that Red Vision gave Vision all of his memories, including the memories from within the Hex. But White Vision is having real difficulty connecting to them,” explained Bettany. “So he has the memories, but he doesn’t have the emotions and the feelings, and I think that’s what the journey is. White Vision’s journey during the show is about his attempt to connect to those memories and who he was… but with lasers!”

Then we have the return of Ultron who is trapped in Vision’s mind, appearing as a human avatar James Spsder with a massive beard, teasing a possible father/son dynamic. Ultron is suggesting to Vision that he should actions that might inadvertently endanger the world. Ultron’s hatred for humans in VisionQuest stems from his original programming as an AI designed to “improve” the world and his ideological belief that humanity is flawed, echoing the same motivations seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Jocasta, who was not in the trailer is in this series. Built by Ultron, the AI villain responsible for Vision’s creation, is his bride. Ultron modeled her consciousness on Janet van Dyne (the Wasp). Tommy also makes an appearance as he continues the search for his father. The trailer finally ends with a teaser of a confrontation between Vision and Ultron Can Vision regain his emotions and identity during the series? Will Ultron finally be defeated. How will technology and humans coexist?

While details are under wraps, Winderbaum stated, “Terry’s vision for the show is that he knows the lore. So, if you’ve been following the MCU all these years, you’re going to be very, very, very rewarded.”

VisionQuest is also set to star: Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E, Jonathan Sayer as U, James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S., Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., James Spader as Ultron, and Ruaridh Mollica as Thomas Shepherd.
