During Sony’s Paris Games Week 2017 Media Showcase, Naughty Dog released a brand new trailer for The Last of Us Part II. The trailer is conveniently embedded above for you all to check out.
This brutal trailer depicts what appears to be an older version of Ellie being rescued from an attempted hanging by a few new adversaries. The female antagonist alludes to the fact that Ellie is pregnant and is aiming to cut the fetus out of her body before hanging her. Several other characters are then introduced and resort to shooting arrows and throwing axes until the opposing group is killed. The tone is very dark with the violence dialed all the way up to further emphasize that the sequel will be filled with hatred. An interview with Neil Druckmann is also included below to provide further context as to what fans can expect from the sequel.
The Last of Us Part II is currently in development exclusively for the PlayStation 4 and is expected to launch sometime in the future. The sequel will reunite the team of Ellie and Joel but will also be far more brutal and unforgiving than it predecessor.
