For some time now, fans have wanted a game that features both Nolan North (Nathan Drake from the Uncharted series) and Troy Baker (Joel from The Last of Us and Booker from BioShock: Infinite). They’ll get their wish this fall when Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is released. Both men have actually been in video games before (the last one being inFAMOUS: Second Son) but this is the first time that both will be doing performance capture together on a video game.
Baker plays as the protagonist of the game, Talion, while North plays as the game’s villain, The Black Hand. Since the two are the main stars of the game, they naturally had to do a lot of performing on the set. This is something that both men are used to considering that they’ve been in series which are renowned for their strong performances. They aren’t simply reading lines in an isolated voice-over booth, they’re actually interacting with one another.
What’s cool about this video is how much fun the men have with each other. Some believe that the two have a rivalry going on but that couldn’t be further from the truth. You can clearly tell that these guys like being around each other and they joke around a lot. Although it’s obvious that North is the big trouble maker of the two.
Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor will be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 7th. It will release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 18th.
