Throwback Thursday: AZ (1994 – 2002)

After the release of his “Last Of A Dying Breed Pt. II” mixtape, this week’s Throwback Thursday takes a look back on some classic AZ.

We have selected five classic tracks from AZ’s library.

The first of the five is “Rather Unique“. This song features on AZ’s 1995 classic album “Doe Or Die“. This track was produced by legendary producer Pete Rock, who makes an appearance on the song throughout.

The second track we have selected is from 1998. “How Ya Livin” appeared on AZ’s sophomore album “Pieces of a Man“. The song features long-time AZ associate, Nas and was produced by L.E.S.

Track three is from Nas’ classic 1994 debut album “Illmatic“. “Life’s A Bitch” was AZ’s big breakthrough track were he arguably outshone Nas on his own track. This was the only song on “Illmatic” that had a guest appearance. The song was produced by L.E.S.

The fourth track is from 2001 in the form of “That’s Real“. This song is from his third studio album “9 Lives” and features an appearance from currently incarcerated Beanie Sigel. “That’s Real” was produced by Bink.

The final track of our selected five is “I’m Back“. This song features Daddy Rose and was a single for the 2002 album “Aziatic“. Buckwild takes the credit for producing “I’m Back“.

AZ’s music is available on Amazon.
