Styles P released the first single for his new project called “Float“ which he announced this week. With that been said, this week’s Throwback Thursday takes a look back to Styles P‘s 2002 hit “Good Times (I Get High)“.
Released 11 years ago for his debut solo album “A Gangster and a Gentleman“, “Good Times (I Get High)” is a track dedicated to the favourite hobby of most hip-hop artists – smoking weed.
The song was produced by fellow Ruff Ryder and-now-Mr. Keys, Swizz Beatz who sampled “I Get High (On Your Memory)” by classical soul-singer Freda Payne.
The video features Styles P in a bathroom of all places, then shows him and the rest of his Ruff Ryder crew in a club rocking the creepy contact lenses long before Hopsin came along.
“Good Times (I Get High)” was featured on a few soundtracks such as “Soul Plane” and “Music Inspired by Scarface” and also Swizz Beatz‘s compilation album “Swizz Beatz Presents G.H.E.T.T.O. Stories“.
The song was remixed by fellow L.O.X members Jadakiss & Sheek Louch along with J-Hood, Drag-On and Birdman. Also, to be expected, was the remix from the famous weed-smoking duo of Redman and Method Man (who recently dropped a new video this week).
“A Gangster And A Gentleman” was released in 2002 and is available on Amazon for purchase.
