Most Influential Minorities In Game Journalism

Gerard “HipHopGamer” Williams

Many will hate me for putting HipHopGamer on this list, but that’s the exact reason he’s on this list. We are talking about a man who started out with a Playstation camera, a black sheet, and a Youtube account. That’s all it took for Gerard to take the industry by storm. Taking a Brooklyn street persona and mixing it with video game news and rumors has never been so entertaining. It took no time for the industry to take notice, as HipHopGamer became the life of conference halls, networking mixers, and after parties. We walked into a  room with the developers from Guerrilla Games (Killzone 2) and they yelled out “HipHopGaaaaaamer” with excitement. Later that night they bought me and Gerard 3 rounds of drinks on them. That’s the effect he has on people. If you got Michael Pachter giving us daps like hes from the same neighborhood, its a no brainer this guy is influential. When I first discovered his show, I knew I had a shot in this industry.
