Wii U’s System Update And Virtual Console Coming Next Week, Earthbound Coming Later This Year

Next week will see the release of the much-anticipated Wii U system update. This update will improve the system’s load times, allow you to transfer data between harddrives, enable automatic installs for downloaded software and will allow users to boot the system directly into Wii Mode upon start up.

Virtual Console titles will also start appearing on the Wii U’s eShop a day after the system update is released. The Wii U’s VC will launch with a select few NES and SNES titles (as seen in the sizzle reel above) with GBA and N64 software to follow later this year.

In other Virtual Console news, Nintendo also announced that Earthbound/Mother 2 will be coming to the Wii U this holiday. The Koalition’s own JakeJames Lugo couldn’t be happier! *sigh*
