EA Sports have just announced brand new details regarding next year’s FIFA 14 title.
This year’s gimmicks (to make the new title seem like it is going to be new) is the “Real Ball Physics” and a new shooting engine which EA Sports have named “Pure Shot“. Apparently, “Pure Shot” will “transform shooting, making every shot attempt feel real, and when players connect with the perfect strike, feel exhilarating.”
These new “innovations” are an attempt to have players of FIFA 14 play the ball through midfield and dictate the tempo. I guess this is an attempted fix for the B.S. of FIFA 13 where everyone uses the extremely unrealistic 1-2 pass to death or; the big lobbed ball over the defence which seems to cause centre-halves to be sucked up the pitch by an unknown force. Let’s hope that is the case.
The news does not end there. The “Protect The Ball” is a new feature that will be added to FIFA 14 which enables players to muscle-off any defenders before they receive a pass. This is an attempt to create new ways of making opportunities to score in the game.
” ‘Sprint Dribble Turns’ enable players to turn in every direction at sprint speed while preserving momentum, delivering the control and confidence to take on defenders one-on-one.”
” ‘Variable Dribble Touches’ introduces variety on touches when sprinting. Skilled players will have better touch and more control when sprinting with the ball.”
Also new to the Career Mode is the “Global Scouting Network”. This is going to be a further development of the current scouting system in Career Mode. The “Global Scouting Network” will provide players with live updates of players that are currently being scouted for the potential transfer in the upcoming windows.
Regarding online, EA have told us:
FIFA 14 will deliver engaging online** features and live services that connect fans to the heartbeat of the sport—and to each other—through EA SPORTS Football Club, making FIFA 14 soccer’s social network, where fans connect, compete and share with millions of others around the world. The game will also feature:
· Changes to the wildly popular FIFA Ultimate Team
· A new online Mode that will encourage social competition
· Multiple new features and benefits to EA SPORTS Football Club, the live service that is the heartbeat of FIFA
· Complete authenticity with more than 500 officially licensed clubs.
Here are the new screenshots provided by EA Sports. As you’ll see, at this stage, these screenshots are rather redundant.
EA Sports flatter to deceive once again with the news of an upcoming FIFA game. The “Protect The Ball” and “Sprint Dribble Turns” do not sound new to me. I thought that was added last year with the “360 Dribbling“?! The “Variable Dribble Touches” sounds like an unneeded god send for the Ronaldo and Messi lovers out there! If today’s news was subsequent fixes for the current FIFA 13 game then I would be personally more receptive to the new information.
FIFA 14 will be released on the PS3, Xbox 360, PC (and probably every other system under the sun apart from Wii U) in late September/early October.
