/// Nintendo Europe to Cut 320 Jobs by End of August
“As previously communicated in June 2014, approximately 130 permanent employees will be released by Nintendo of Europe (Germany) at the end of August 2014 as part of a set of measures to better enable the European business to adapt to the rapidly changing business environment.
“As a separate measure, Nintendo of Europe is reorganizing its European Localization Development (ELD) department, where it currently uses a number of temporary agency workers in translation and testing activities, in order to increase flexibility and cost-efficiency in the long-term.
“It is intended that there will be an increase in outsourcing future translation and test activities to third-party companies on an as-needed basis, and very sadly this has meant having ended the contracts of 190 temporary agency workers, who were formally notified of this decision in June 2014.”

/// Bungie Promises Destiny Public Events Will Offer Variety
Bungie’s community manager, Deej; David Dague, has told ArabicGamers that players can expect a lot more from public events when the game is released.
- “There are war satellites that fall down from orbit that have wonderful intel we can glean about the golden age.
- “There are mining operations that you’re supposed to sweep and clear.
- “There are capital ships that spawn in over your destination, drop ships come in and deploy ground units. There are a lot of ways we want to surprise the players of Destiny.”

/// Report — Activision Looking to Acquire Take-Two Interactive, Claims Analyst
According to Benchmark analyst Mike Hickey, Activision Blizzard might be looking to acquire Take-Two Interactive Software, the publishers of the hit game Grand Theft Auto V. Hickey mentioned that “an emerging romance” has started between the two companies, prompting Take-Two stock prices to reach a six-year high.
For Activision, acquiring Take-Two Interactive would be a no-brainer, in our view, circling some of the strongest development talent and owned IP in the world, within a company that has nearly $1 billion in cash and trades at a comparably lower multiple.

/// Bungie — Until You’ve Kicked Every Single Ass That Plays Destiny, You Haven’t “Finished” It
In a recent Best Buy Google Hangout, Deej was asked how many hours of gameplay should we expect from Destiny, and while he doesn’t give a specific estimate, he does let on that he doesn’t expect people to “finish” the game anytime soon.
We saw people invest dozens of hours into the beta alone, and that was one destination…These destinations are stitched together with our new tech so that there are so many different locations to visit. Expansive outdoor locations where you can just enjoy your personal vehicle; there are indoor dungeon-type spaces where you can really pick through the bones of our shattered civilization.
Deej also mentions Destiny’s PvP (player vs. player) mode, the Crucible, which, due to its competitive online nature, can’t really be “finished.”
And as we said before, [there are] endless amount of hours of fun in the Crucible…Until you’ve kicked every single ass that plays this game, you haven’t finished. And once you have, someone else just bought their first copy. So, fresh meat, Christmas noobs.
