/// Square Enix Will “Revitalize Some of Our Strong IPs” for PS4 & Xbox One!
Wanting to deliver “content of consistently high quality to customers around the world under the best conditions possible,” Matsuda talked about their plans to revitalize existing IPs for the new consoles, while also exploring virtual reality:
We will revitalize some of our strong IPs in ways that meet the needs of the modern gaming market. For example, we will take an IP developed for earlier generations of game consoles and recreate it for the latest consoles, while also proactively developing versions for play on smart devices.
In addition, we will also explore possibilities involving VR (virtual reality) and other new platforms. We want our longtime fans to relish reliving past experiences with a freshness that only the latest in technology can provide, while at the same time have new customers enjoy the IP as though it were brand new.
By not only optimizing single pieces of IP for single platforms but also rolling out IP in a multi-dimensional manner to meet the needs of the modern market, we believe we can deliver exciting new experiences.

/// Rebellion Buys Woolfe – The Red Hood Diaries IP!
Independent UK developer Rebellion announced today it has purchased all assets and intellectual property rights related to Woolfe – The Red Hood Diaries.
Originally developed by GRIN in Belgium , Woolfe was successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter and its first volume released on Steam earlier this year. It brought to life the fairytale of Little Red Riding Hood in a dark fantasy universe, beautifully rendered in Unreal Engine 3 across challenging 2.5D puzzle-platforming.
However in August, GRIN founder Wim Wouters published a heartfelt blog post explaining that GRIN was requesting bankruptcy and that neither the series’ promised second volume nor the outstanding additional Kickstarter rewards (including art books, posters and a boxed edition) would be shipped to backers.
As part of today’s announcement, Rebellion has made it clear that it intends to honour Kickstarter pledges by delivering all outstanding physical rewards to backers as soon as possible.

/// Report: On-Rails Until Dawn DLC ‘Rush of Blood’ in Testing, Works With PlayStation VR!
According to an email Destructoid received today, which they verified and confirmed through a second source, Sony is doing market testing on a piece of Until Dawn DLC, tentatively titled Rush of Blood.
In the email, the tester says their 20 minute section was “very literally an on-rails experience” and they played through it twice – once with the DualShock 4, once with two PlayStation Move controllers. They weren’t able to see which character they were playing as, and the test content “starts off shooting targets in the snow, then moves toward a house and as you get deeper into the house, enemies start appearing (I believe they were Wendigos).” | Source
