Konami Set to Develop Metal Gear Games Without Kojima; Looking for New Development Team

While it hasn’t been made official, all signs lead us to believe that Hideo Kojima will no longer be an employee at Konami by the end of the year. What does this mean for the franchise? Today, Konami released a statement that gives us a clue as to what will happen next.

From Konami UK:

KONAMI will continue to develop and distribute top-quality content in the METAL GEAR series following“MGSV: TPP.” We greatly anticipate and deeply appreciate your ongoing support for METAL GEAR.

As the next step in the series, KONAMI has already resolved to develop new “METAL GEAR”.

We will be conducting interviews for main staff to lead the development.

As you can see, Konami isn’t going to stop making new Metal Gear games. This isn’t surprising given that this is their most successful series.

As for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Hideo Kojima will finish the game. “I want to reassure fans that I am 100% involved and will continue working on METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN,” said Kojima. “I’m determined to make it the greatest game I’ve directed to date. Don’t miss it!”

This story is still developing so stay tuned for more news as it becomes available.
