Vision Quest, a new Marvel Studios‘ series focusing on Paul Bettany’s iPhone superhero character, is in the works at Disney+. The series, along with Agatha: House of Harkness, marks the second spinoff show based on the popular WandaVision.
Vision Quest is also the name of a Marvel comic book arc centered on the character. While exact plot details are currently under wraps, it is believed the show would follow the newly created Vision as he tries to regain his memories. In the comic, the story factors into the West Coast Avengers storyline.
The show is set to open a writer’s room next week and will focus on Vision’s (Bettany) attempts to regain his memory and humanity. The character made his last appearance in the eponymous WandaVision, which was set after his death in Avengers: Infinity War and showed him as a projection of Wanda Maximoff’s (Elizabeth Olsen) grief.
In WandaVision, the government agency S.W.O.R.D reassembled Vision but he had no memory of his past life or his love for Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. Scarlet Witch. But when the new Vision and Wanda’s magically recreated Vision met in battle in the series, Wanda’s Vision tapped into the new Vision’s past, causing him to flee the battle unexpectedly.
Given the fact the character has experienced a “refresh”, the series is likely to pick up in the aftermath of the show’s finale, which saw him fly away after Wanda granted him the memories and data of his past life.
As with the greenlit Agatha: House of Harkness starring Kathryn Hahn, Vision Quest will be led by WandaVision creator, writer and executive producer Jac Schaeffer.
