Throwdown Ep. 64 – The Great Backwards Compatibility Debate

Welcome to another episode of Throwdown. On this podcast/vidcast we discuss the latest video game, pop culture, and tech news in an honest and uncompromising fashion.

PS Now vs Xbox 360 backwards compatibility. If you want to play older games on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, these are the main vehicles to do so (respectively). But which one is actually better? We break down each service’s pros and cons and decide which is the superior service to play previous-gen games on.

Our second main topic, which wasn’t supposed to be one initially, is about Final Fantasy VII Remake. We debate whether or not breaking the game up into multiple parts was a wise decision or not. This one, just like the other main topic, gets very heated.

Other topics discussed on this episode:

  • November NPDs and how the PlayStation 4 beat the Xbox One
  • Details of the Nintendo NX architecture emerge
  • Yoichi Wada calls out Konami for their treatment of Hideo Kojima
  • The controversy over Laura Bailey playing a black character in Uncharted 4
