We’re back, people! Welcome to the first episode of Throwdown for 2016! Hope you didn’t miss us too much!
Since this is a new year, we’ve made some slight changes to the program. Throwdown is now officially a video game podcast. We’ve always been a video game-centric podcast but we also talked about Pop Culture and Tech as well. We’ve diminished those sort of topics and focused on gaming since the middle of last year but now we’re just making it concrete. If something huge happens in Pop Culture or Tech we’ll discuss it, but for all intents and purposes, this is now a strictly video game podcast.
Our featured topic tonight is on Oculus Rift VR. Earlier this week, the price of the peripheral was revealed to be $600. As was to be expected, the internet exploded in outrage, despite the fact that the machine sold out in minutes. We discuss both sides of this situation: Why the price tag is too damn high, and conversely. why it’s actually “obscenely cheap” as founder Palmer Luckey stated.
A lot of news happened this week and during the holidays. Here are some of the topics we cover:
– Scalebound and ReCore get delayed
– Microsoft’s successes in 2015
– PlayStation 4 sells nearly 36 million units worldwide
– Steam gets hacked?
– No new Assassin’s Creed in 2016
