Ras Kass ft. Dr.Dre & Mack 10 – Ghetto Fabulous
Ras Kass released Barmageddon this week so therefore takes this week’s Throwback Thursday spot with his 1998 hit titled “Ghetto Fabulous“. Featuring fellow west coast artists Dr. Dre & Mack 10 of Westside Connection, “Ghetto Fabulous“ was the only single for Ras Kass‘ second album “Rasassination” which was released in 1998.
The video is situated on a cruise ship and depicts Ras Kass, Dre and Mack 10 living a “Ghetto Fabulous” lifestyle. There is also a frequent cameo appearance throughout from Ice-T. It seems like it’s only Ice-T and Dr. Dre who make the effort to dress up for the occasion! There is also a very strange incident in the video, involving ball-room dancing and line-dancing.
The song itself has a very interesting sample in the form of German Electro band Kraftwerk. Although the song features Dr. Dre, there is no production from the super-producer and instead is produced by Stu-B-Doo.
